Tim Stone, AIA
Managing Partner
An accomplished architect with a passion for sustainability, Tim excels at translating clients’ ideas and aspirations into extraordinary homes. He works at a variety of scales, and his projects span the U.S. and Canada.
Tim’s hands-on approach to design is influenced by his love of detailing and craftsmanship. He’s a skilled welder, carpenter, photographer, and artist.
Before founding KS|a with Keith Kelly in 2006, Tim designed high-end residential projects in Colorado’s Roaring Fork Valley as project architect at Charles Cunniffe Architects. He also gained previous architectural experience while practicing in Denver.
As a young adult, Tim worked as a framing and finish carpenter on residential construction projects in Denver and Boulder. This practical construction experience is a tremendous asset to the entire KS|a design team.
Tim earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental design from the University of Colorado Boulder and a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Colorado Denver. A LEED Accredited Professional, he’s a member of the U.S. Green Building Council and American Institute of Architects.
Tim has designed and built two homes for his own family, and is current building a third project in Steamboat.
His love of working with his hands has led to numerous artistic and creative pursuits, including sculpture, metallurgy, painting, and woodworking.
An avid gardener, Tim has a wide range of outdoor hobbies that include backpacking, whitewater rafting, windsurfing, and scuba diving.
